Today, Capcom announced their Summer Game Fest-adjacent livestream event, Capcom Next, taking place on Monday, July 1 at 5:00 p.m. CDT / 3:00 p.m. PDT. The program will run for approximately 25 minutes and will reveal new info on three upcoming Capcom titles including Resident Evil 7 coming to iOS devices, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and a deeper dive into the recently announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Fans hoping to get another glimpse at Monster Hunter Wilds will have to keep waiting as the company disclosed that no new details are to be shared at this event.

Capcom revealed yesterday that a remaster of the 2006 Xbox 360 zombie classic Dead Rising is in the works for modern platforms titled Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (DRDR for short). Though a teaser trailer was shared yesterday showing off everyone’s favorite zombie-slaying photojournalist Frank West arriving at Willamette Mall via helicopter with new and improved graphics, scant few details were shared beyond that, aside from a 2024 release window.

The original Dead Rising already received a remaster treatment back in 2016 to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary which did little more than bump the framerate up to 60 and the resolution to 1080p. DRDR seems to be a much more substantial remake however, not only in its fresh coat of paint, but apparently with new voice acting as well. Frank West’s original voice actor, Terence J. Rotolo will not be reprising his role, nor will Ty Olsson who took over voice duties for the character in Dead Rising 4. It’s currently unclear who the new Frank is played by, or why the role was recast (again).

Knitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Capcom’s Japanese-inspired action strategy game, was originally announced at Xbox Showcase 2023. More details were revealed at this year’s Summer Game Fest including an action-packed gameplay trailer and a launch date of July 19, 2024.

Capcom will also be sharing new information on the iPhone, iPad and Mac ports of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, coming out on Tuesday, July 2. This follows recent ports of two other Resident Evil games, Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4, with an iOS port of Resident Evil 2 Remake on the way.

The Japanese company reportedly has “at least 5 new games” in development according to a 2023 leak by Twitter/X user DuskGolem. Following the recent success of the franchise, it’s no surprise that Capcom is working on Resident Evil 9, but remakes/remasters of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are supposedly coming as well.
